BELIEVE AGAIN

John Brockberg, the third child of two physicians, was raised in the classic suburban city of Mahtomedi.  It was during his childhood that John would start developing his focus on student success.  John overcame dyslexia through years of Title 1 and special education instruction, to eventually graduate from two of the premier academic institutions in America, Stanford University (B.A. Economics) and Boston College (MBA).  This experience combined with having an autistic nephew and serving in higher education, has given John a very personal connection to strengthening the foundation on which children and adults can achieve academic success.

Raised with a respect for forming one’s own destiny, John earned a football scholarship to Stanford University where he played for former Viking’s coach Dennis Green and legendary coach Bill Walsh.  Taking the discipline and attention to detail learned on the football field, John was able to start a successful software company where he experienced the trials and joys of being a business owner.  John also had the experience of going through a corporate bankruptcy when he worked for one of the largest internet service providers in the world.  Living through this anguish and seeing friends and family go through economic upheaval has strengthened his resolve to ensure the soundness of America’s middle class.

As a father of three, John is focused on making sure the promise of America is real for his children as they grow up.  With a message that if you work hard, play by the rules and are competent you can provide a good life for your loved ones, John is committed to making sure the American dream is not extinguished by the ever expanding privilege and hubris displayed by our corporate and political elite.  America is as much an idea as it is a country and John believes it is paramount that we hold true to the ideals fostered by the generations before us.

John is running for Congress because he wants to be a voice for responsible, competent and accountable government. He believes people deserve a government that gets it right.  Politicians and public institutions are stewards of the people.  They need to answer in how they spend and tax the hard earned money of its citizens.  They need to be accountable for having the right foreign policy when it relies on the bravery of our soldiers and they need to be competent in how they deliver the necessary services that keep us safe and protect us in times of need.

John Brockberg resides in Stillwater, and is employed as a program director for a local university. He is married to Andrea, a women's health nurse practitioner. They have three young children enrolled in the Stillwater public school system.
